Starting her career in Medicine in 1998, Roula Hourani finished her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Medicine at the Saint Joseph University, Beirut, Lebanon. Following her graduation, she proceeded with her residency in radiology at Hotel Dieu in Lebanon. Following her residency program, she decided to pursue her career further with a postgraduate fellowhship at the Tenon Hospital and Pitie-Salpétriere Hospital in Neuroradiology, both in Paris, France. Her educational path also led her to the United States, where she completed her post graduate fellowship in Neuroradiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Maryland, USA. After her time abroad she returned to Lebanon, start working as faculty at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. She is currently an Associate Professor at the AUBMC, where she is also the MRI Medical Director. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Roula Hourani is also a prolific academic author, with over 50 publications in some of the top tier journals such as the American Journal of Neuroradiology, as well as chapters in books, abstracts, and international presentations. Her research interest are wide, ranging between epilepsy, as well as neuroscientific studies of brain development. She has also been recognizied by the Lebanese Legaue Against Epilepsy in great appreciation of her work with the NOEL study in 2011, and has also received an award for Best Senior Presentation at the World Association for Lebanese Neurosurgeons and Lebanese Society of Neurosurgery in 2006.
