Professor Ronald Ching Wan Ma is an attending endocrinologist at the Prince of Wales Hospital and Professor at the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Professor Ma completed his medical training at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and trained in Internal Medicine in London. He subsequently moved to Hong Kong, where he completed his endocrinology fellowship training. Following his endocrine fellowship training, he furthered his research interest in the area of diabetic complications at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School.

In the course of his research, Professor Ma has published over 150 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and authored 7 book chapters. His research interests include epidemiology and genetics of diabetes and its complications, gestational diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and cardiovascular complications caused by endocrine disorders. For Professor Ma’s contribution to both research and the community at large, he has been recognized through various awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the Hong Kong College of Physicians (2008), Young Investigator Award from the International Diabetes Epidemiology Group (2009), Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (2009) and the Albert Renold Fellowship from the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (2010).
