Ronald Bartels MD, PhD

Ronald Bartels' research activities are related to spine surgery, especially in relation to the treatment of the metastatic involvement of the spine and of degenerative disorders of the spine. Their interest in spinal surgery started after his certification as a neurosurgeon in 1996. Through contact with orthopedic surgeons, his clinical interest in complex spinal surgery was initiated. The scientific interest followed the clinical one. Epidemiological training contributed to his interest in meta-analytic studies and studies related to the efficacy of treatments. Currently, he is Chair of the department of neurosurgery and president-elect of the Cervical Spine Research Society- European section.
