Dr. Ron Zernicke is a professor of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology, as well as a professor of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopedic Surgery. He is also director of the Exercise and Sport Science Initiative and co-director of the Michigan Performance Research Laboratory. Dr. Zernicke served as dean of the School of Kinesiology from 2010 to 2016. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Zernicke has had a prolific career in academia. He has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals, published three books, and has been invited to more than 100 conferences around the world on topics like biomechanics and sports conditioning. He has received more than $25 million in grant funding from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, NASA, and the U.S. Navy. Dr. Zernicke is a reviewer for many academic journals, such as the American Journal of Sports Medicine and PLOS One, and is a member of several professional organizations, including the National Academy of Kinesiology and the American Society of Biomechanics. He also holds a patent for the general isosurface equation for surface integration in reverse engineering. Dr. Zernicke has received many awards throughout his career, including the Career Award in the Canadian Society for Biomechanics, the Delsys Award for EMG Research Innovation, and the Founder’s Medal from the Canadian Orthopedics Society.
