Rolf Jager is Professor of Neuroradiology at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and Consultant Neuroradiologist at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and at University College Hospital (UCH).
He studied Medicine at the University of Freiburg (Germany) and Montpellier (France) and obtained an MD with magna cum laude from the University of Freiburg.
He trained in Radiology at the Hammersmith Hospital and in both Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and Hospital Kremlin Bicester in Paris. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).
His current clinical practice is in Diagnostic Neuroradiology with subspecialist areas of expertise in Neurovascular Diseases, Neuro-oncology, Neurodegeneration and Neuroinfectious Diseases (including HIV and Neuro-parasitology). He is leading the clinical implementation of advanced MRI techniques such as arterial spin labelling (ASL) perfusion imaging, extra- and intracranial vessel wall imaging and susceptibility weighted imaging, which help advancing our understanding of stroke mechanisms.
Professor Jager is a sought-after teacher and lecturer at national and international level and is on the faculty of the European Course of Neuroradiology (ECNR) and South American Course of Neuroradiology.
He is an editor-in-chief of “Clinical Neuroradiology”, a three-volume, state-of-the-art live reference book on Neuroradiology.
From the outset of the pandemic Professor Jager has been active in the imaging of Covid 19-related neurological disease and he is a member of the NeuroCovid working group European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR).
