Dr. Schoenthaler is a board-certified radiation oncologist. She received her medical degree at the UCLA School of Medicine and did her residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of California at San Francisco. She completed a fellowship in charged particle radiotherapy with Joseph Castro, MD at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, and then joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at MGH in 1992.
Since 1997, she has been practicing at the MGH Department of Radiation Oncology at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. She has a particular interest in treating women with breast cancer. She also treats women with gynecologic cancers and has a special interest in quality of life issues for oncology patients, patient-physician communication, and survivorship issues.
Dr Schoenthaler is the Director of Medical Education at Emerson Hospital and Chair of the Medical Education Committee and as such is responsible for coordinating Emerson's CME programs for physicians.
