Dr. Van Waterschoot obtained his BSc in Analytical and Organic Chemistry at the Avans University of
Applied Sciences (Etten-Leur, The Netherlands) in 2003. He subsequently completed the MSc-program
Pharmaceutical Sciences at the VU University Amsterdam. During this program he specialized in Molecular
Toxicology and Molecular Pharmacology. In 2004 he visited the DMPK department of Merck (Rahway, NJ)
to do a research project on CYP2D6. Between 2005 and 2009 he performed his PhD research in the group
of Dr. Alfred Schinkel at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam.
His PhD-project focused on how knockout and transgenic mice could be utilized to study the interplay between CYP3A and drug transporters. Early 2010 he started working as a DMPK scientist at Abbott Laboratories (Weesp, The Netherlands). Since February 2011 he works as a laboratory head in the DMPK department of Abbott
Laboratories (Ludwigshafen, Germany).
