Robert Tarran PhD

Dr. Tarran is a Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Tarran received his BSc from The University of Leeds and his Ph.D. in Physiology from Newcastle University in the UK and completed post-doctoral research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of California at Berkley. Dr. Tarran is interested in the effects of conventional tobacco, and e-cigarettes on the lung. As part of my program, He is studying whether chronic e-cigarette use leads to increases in secreted proteases that are associated with inflammation, lung damage, and cancer metastasis. He also, studies how e-cigarette use can alter genes/proteins involved in cancer.
