Dr. Robert Smith is a consultant interventional cardiologist, specializing in invasive procedures including coronary angioplasty, transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve intervention, pacemakers, and alcohol septal ablation. In addition to Dr. Robert Smith’s role as chair of both the mitral valve care groups, he is the lead for the structural heart program at Royal Brompton & Harefield hospitals and runs one the of world’s renowned and innovative transcatheter mitral programs. He leads the most experience MitraClip team in the UK, and he has performed over 200 cases. Dr. Robert Smith is accountable for teaching Imperial College London Undergraduate students on placements at Harefield and Hillingdon hospitals. He teaches the practical assessment of clinical examination skills (PACES) courses at these hospitals as well. He leads a two-week program of teaching throughout the year.
