Robert Mcgovern MD

Dr. Robert McGovern is a fellowship-trained epilepsy and functional neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. He completed his medical degree at Columbia University and neurosurgical residency at Columbia University Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He went on to complete a dedicated fellowship in epilepsy surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. McGovern performs a wide range of epilepsy surgeries, including anterior temporal lobectomy, lesionectomy, corpus callosotomy, and stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG)-guided resections. He is also experienced in neuromodulation therapies such as deep-brain stimulation (DBS) for epilepsy and movement disorders. His practice is based at the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, where he is actively involved in clinical care, research, and surgical training.
