Dr. Robert A. Lefkowitz, MD, is a board-certified radiologist and Attending Radiologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in New York. He specializes in body imaging, with particular expertise in sarcomas, retroperitoneal tumors, orthopedic imaging, and urologic imaging. He has practiced radiology at MSK since 2000.
Dr. Lefkowitz has a particular clinical and research interest in retroperitoneal and soft-tissue tumors, including retroperitoneal liposarcomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, myxofibrosarcomas, and desmoid tumors. He also has extensive experience in imaging bone, renal, and adrenal tumors and serves on MSK's Gastric and Mixed Tumor Service, Orthopedic, and Urologic Disease Management Teams.
His research includes the study of sarcomas and other rare soft-tissue tumors, and he has participated as an investigator in related clinical trials. He serves on the medical advisory board of the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation and has served as the national study chair for imaging in a phase III clinical trial evaluating sorafenib for patients with desmoid tumors.
Dr. Lefkowitz earned his MD from New York University School of Medicine, completed his residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, and subsequently completed fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology.
