Dr. Bowers grew up in Atlanta, GA, and attended Woodward Academy. After high school, he went to Furman University in Greenville, SC where he played Division I baseball and majored in Health and Exercise Science. Dr. Bowers then moved on to graduate school at Auburn University in Auburn, AL where he earned a Masters of Education in Exercise Science and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology. After graduate school, he earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus.
He then completed post-graduate residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory University School of Medicine and subsequently completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Emory as well. His specific clinical interests are sports-related musculoskeletal injuries, the utilization of ultrasound for the diagnosis of injuries and the precise guidance of procedures, the use of biologics for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, baseball medicine and throwing athletes, and concussions. He currently lives in the Brookhaven area with his wife Hayley and two kids Anna and Kai.
