Robert G. Kalb, MD, has been named Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Kalb earned his BA degree in Biology from Wesleyan University and his MD from Cornell University Medical College. He performed his internship and residency in Medicine at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York. He completed a second residency, in Neurology, at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut and a fellowship in the Department of Neurobiology at Yale University.
Dr. Kalb's laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms by which precise connections form between neurons during development. His lab also studies why motor neurons are vulnerable to insult, in relation to Lou Gehrig's Disease.
