Dr Robert A. Enns is presently the Head of the Division of Gastroenterology, participating in teaching, training at all levels (medical student, residents, fellows, and advanced fellows) as well as running a clinical practice focusing not only on endoscopic procedures but on medical advances in GI. He is actively involved in research in most areas of Gastroenterology, but tends to publish primarily in areas of endoscopy.
Dr Enns' areas of research interest typically include technology assessment and quality improvement. To this end, his present work has been in advanced endoscopic techniques relating to ERCP/EMR and capsule endoscopy. In regard to quality improvement, Provincial involvement in colonoscopy skills enhancement and training has occupied most of his time. He has been involved nationally with numerous endoscopic studies that have typically been developed through the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology. Although his primary interests have been endoscopic, as one who has interests in any advances (medical or endoscopic, or training), he has published in numerous arenas.
