Robert E. Shaddy, MD, is Pediatrician-in-Chief and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
As Chair of Pediatrics, Dr. Shaddy oversees department faculty at CHLA and LAC+USC Medical Center campuses. As CHLA’s Pediatrician-in-Chief and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, he provides oversight for faculty appointments and educational and research activities—including those performed at The Saban Research Institute, CHLA’s freestanding research facility dedicated to exploring and addressing the most pressing national child health issues.
Dr. Shaddy, a cardiologist, most recently served as the Vice-Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He simultaneously served as the Chief of the Division of Cardiology and the Jennifer Terker Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
With more than 25 years in his distinguished career, Dr. Shaddy is nationally recognized for his research into pediatric heart failure and heart transplantation. His expertise includes studying the effectiveness of pharmaceutical drugs in treating heart failure in children.
