Robert Gerwin is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA, and a retired neurologist whose private practice in Bethesda, Maryland was Pain and Rehab Medicine. He remains active lecturing, teaching, writing, editing, and continues to collaborate with colleagues conducting studies in the field of myofascial pain and in issues of chronic pain and headache.

He continues with an ongoing relationship teaching at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and in Israel with the Israel Musculoskeletal Medicine Society and at the Israel Neurology and Neurophysiology Annual Convention. Dr. Gerwin has completed a study of the morphology of the trigger point at the University of Ghent, Ghent Belgium, in January 2019. The work was done in conjunction with Kayleigh De Meulemeester Ph.D. and Barbara Cagnie Ph.D. Dr. Gerwin delivered a plenary session lecture to the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture at their annual meeting in Phoenix, AZ in April 2019. He also presented a 4-hour workshop on myofascial pain at the conference.
