Robert H. Bates PhD

Robert H. Bates is an experienced chemist and drug discovery scientist who has been working in GSK´s Tuberculosis Unit since 2011. Recently, he was named Head of Discovery for this group, with his role encompassing all pre-clinical research. He now leads a line of around 25 scientists (biologists and program leaders).

He has worked on all phases of drug discovery and early development. Additionally, with our group´s Open Innovation strategy, He has extensive experience working with multiple external partners such as the TB Alliance, the TB Drug Accelerator, and Dundee´s Drug Discovery Unit.
