Born in Jacksonville, Illinois Dr. Campbell earned his undergraduate degree at Hamilton College in Clinton, NewDr R Brick Campbell York. Dr. Campbell finished his medical degree at the University of Vermont and completed his residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He served in the United States Army Medical Corps including being stationed in northern Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Dr. Campbell completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic where he served as assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Mighty Ducks and USC football and volleyball. Dr. Campbell specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy for the shoulder, knee, and elbow. He also performs knee and shoulder replacement. He currently serves as the team physician for the Norfolk Admirals, Virginia Wesleyan College, Virginia Destroyers and Virginia Beach High Schools, including First Colonial and Tallwood. Dr. Campbell has a special interest in complex ligament injuries of the knee, cartilage and meniscus replacement of the knee, as well as instability or throwing injuries of the elbow and shoulder. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
