Riyaz Ahmed MS, MBBS, FRCS, FMASI

Dr. Riyaz Ahmed is a senior surgeon with 25 years of vast and versatile experience in all disciplines of general surgery. He is currently working as a Senior Consultant at the Royal Hospital and in-charge of the endocrine surgical unit. Complex thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and other endocrine surgical cases from all over the country are referred to the endocrine surgical unit. He has been in the Royal Hospital for the last 15 years and for about 8 years was in Sultan Qaboos Hospital Salalah before coming to the Royal Hospital. Though endocrine surgery and Laparoscopic surgery are areas of his special expertise and interest, Dr Riyaz has vast experience in upper gastrointestinal surgery, breast surgery and vascular surgery. He teaches students of the medical school of Sultan Qaboos university at the Royal Hospital. He is an officially designated Senior clinical lecturer of the university. He is also a postgraduate surgical tutor and trainer for the OMSB (Oman Medical Specialty Board).
