Dr. Komaki is Co-Chair of the Lung Committee of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), is PI of RTOG- 0239 (a phase II trial of limited small cell lung cancer). She is PI of RTOG Esophageal Cancer trials (RTOG 0113 and RTOG 0426) that are NCI approved trials. Dr. Komaki has been a Radiation Oncologist for 30 years and is interested in Epidemiology and Treatment of cancer of the Esophagus. She sits on the PDQ Extramural Board of Associate Editors at the National Cancer Institute, and is an ABR Oral Board Examiner. She is also a member of the National Council Radiation Protection (NCRP), an executive committee member of International Association Study for the Lung Cancer (IASLC) and Women Against Lung Cancer (WALC), a member of National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) for the Lung Cancer, Chair of American College of Radiology (ACR) appropriateness of management of Lung Cancer, and past Chair of Radiation Oncology for the Texas Radiological Society. In addition, Dr. Komaki serves as a Principal Investigator for RTOG at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and is Chair of the ASTRO Education Committee. From 2000 to 2001, she served as President of the American Association for Women Radiologists (AAWR). In 2005, she received award of Business and Professional Women in Texas. NY Times, People Magazine and USA have interviewed her today because of her scientific commitment for Radiation Oncology and patient care. In 2002, Dr. Komaki was listed in the Best Doctors in Houston in The Houstonian, and in Best Women Doctors in Inside Houston. She was also listed as one of 318 top cancer doctors for women in Good Housekeeping magazine in 1991. Dr. Komaki serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics; Radiotherapy and Oncology; Radiology; and Journal of Women’s Imaging. She has published over 400 papers in peer reviewed journals including The New England Journal of Medicine; Seminars in Radiation Oncology; International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics; Radiotherapy and Oncology; Radiology; Journal of Clinical Oncology; Journal of National Cancer Institute; Cancer; and Clinical Cancer Research
