Ritse Mann

Dr. Ritse Mann is a resident in radiology in his last year. He started his research in the field of breast MRI in 2005 under supervision of the late prof. dr. Carla Boetes. He graduated in November 2010 with a thesis entitled "the effectiveness of breast MRI in invasive lobular carcinoma". Recently, he co-supervised dr. Meeuwis, who graduated in 2011 on the assessment of the optimal breast biopsy technique at 3T breast MRI. He currently leads clinical breast research in the radiology department of the RadboudUMC. He is local investigator for the DENSE trial and local radiologist for the FamRISC trial, two large nationwide breast cancer screening studies with MRI.

Dr. Ritse Mann is an active member of the European society of breast imaging (EUSOBI), being first author of their breast MRI guidelines. He is EUSOBI representative in the self assessment committee of the European Society of radiology, and is as of october 2012 also member of the EUSOBI scientific committee. He is a member of the subcommittee ‘Breast’ in the organization of the European congress of radiology (ECR) in 2012 and 2013 and acts as reviewer of many peer-reviewed journals, including ‘Breast Cancer Research and Treatment’ and ‘European Radiology’. He was a clinical investigator in the recently finalized EU-funded HAMAM project in which correlation between many radiological modalities in breast evaluation was explored, and is currently a clinical partner in the recently EU-funded ASSURE and VPH-PRISM projects, that respectively aim at the development of personalized breast cancer screening and radiologic - pathologic correlation for the optimization of breast cancer therapy.
