Rita Barone MD, PhD

Rita Barone is an Associate Professor of Child Neurology and Psychiatry at the School of Medicine of the University of Catania in Italy. She is a graduate of Medicine (MD) at the University of Catania where she specialized in Child Neuropsychiatry. In 2000 she received her Ph.D. from the University of Catania. Prof. Barone has dedicated her research to the diagnosis, characterization, and therapy of patients with neurogenetic diseases, including novel diseases of the central nervous system with special regard to Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation. She has also focused on the clinical characterization and analyses of metabolic and genetic findings in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Intellectual Disability. She is the author of 100 research articles and has participated in several International and National Research Programmes. Prof. Barone has dedicated her career to studying the Neurological affectations of rare disorders.
