Dr. R. van de Langenberg studied medicine at Maastricht University. During his studies, he did an internship at the ENT department of the National University Hospital, Singapore. In addition, during the study, he started to conduct scientific research in the field of diagnosis and treatment of the vestibular schwannoma, a benign tumor of the vestibular nerve. He obtained his medical finals in 2008. Until 2013, he trained as an ENT doctor at the Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. B. Kremer and Prof. Dr. RJ Stokroos.
During his studies he obtained his doctorate with the thesis 'Vestibular schwannomas, new developments in the management of vestibular schwannomas, a multidisciplinary project, carried out in Maastricht (MUMC) and Tilburg (Gamma Knife center).
After his training, he followed a fellowship in ear surgery at the internationally renowned 'European Institute for Otorhinolaryngology' in Antwerp, Belgium, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. FE Offeciers and Dr. T. Somers.
After he started at the Diakonessenhuis in 2014, he followed a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive facial surgery led by Dr. PJFM Lohuis, here in the Diakonessenhuis and in the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital in Amsterdam. He completed this fellowship in 2016 by successfully completing the International Board Exam for Certification in Facial Plastic Surgery in London and is IBCFPRS Certified in Facial Surgery.
