Richard V. Chua, MD, FAANS, FACS, is a Professor of Neurosurgery and is a board-certified neurosurgeon and provides general neurosurgical care at Banner University Medical Center – Tucson. He is an active teaching faculty member in the Neurosurgery Residency Program within the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.

Dr. Chua specializes in degenerative spine disease, motion preservation surgery of the cervical spine (arthroplasty), image-guided and robotic-assisted techniques for instrumented spinal fusions, and minimally invasive surgeries of the entire spine. He is an active faculty member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Goodman Oral Boards Review Course. He has been an invited guest lecturer at many US and international spine meetings and provides surgeon education both domestically and internationally. He hosts visiting surgeons frequently in Tucson. He is a founding member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS). He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), and the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons (ABNS).
