Richard P. Macdermott MD, MACG

Dr. MacDermott is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine at Albany Medical College, in Albany New York. Dr. MacDermott previously was the Thomas Ordway, MD Distinguished Chair in Medicine and Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Center at Albany Medical College, in Albany New York. In the past, Dr. MacDermott was Chief of Gastroenterology and the Albert M Yunich MD Professor of Medicine at Albany Medical College; and Chief of Gastroenterology and the T. Grier Miller Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Dr. MacDermott has published over 120 original scientific publications on the role of the immune system in inflammatory bowel disease plus over 80 review articles and chapters. Dr. MacDermott specialized for over 40 years in the care of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis patients. Dr. MacDermott was chosen as a “Best Doctor” and/or “Top Doctor” from 2002 to 2013 in the Albany/Upstate NY region.
