Dr Richard McQuade Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology, Institute of Neuroscience, Faculty of Medicine, Newcastle University, UK. Dr McQuade studied Pharmacy at Rhodes University in South Africa, and for a DPhil in Neuropharmacology at the University of Oxford. After postdoctoral positions at University College London, and Newcastle University, he was appointed Lecturer in Pharmacology at Newcastle University in 2001. His research focuses on the mechanisms of action of mood stabilizers and antidepressants, particularly on interactions with monoamine systems and the
hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis. He has been a member of the BAP for 20 years, contributing regularly to the annual meeting and lecturing on the Masterclass in Clinical Psychopharmacology.
