Dr. Richard Louis Hutchison, MD is a hand surgeon at UF Health in the University of Florida Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and subspecialized in hand surgery. He has dedicated his career to helping people regain hand function and return to their favorite activities. His clinical focus encompasses the full spectrum of hand-related conditions and treatments including bone fracture repair, pediatric and congenital hand conditions, trigger finger, nerve injuries, nerve compression including carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome, upper extremity injuries including wound, frostbite, minor burns, tendon injuries, arthritis, masses, cysts, skin lesions, infections, and vascular issues.

Richard received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, followed by earning his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He did a general surgery residency and was also a research fellow at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then went to the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine at Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey to finish out my general surgery residency. He decided to further specialize and completed a plastic surgery residency at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis and a hand surgery fellowship at Integris Health Baptist Medical Center at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. More recently he received a graduate certificate in clinical research from the University of Missouri Kansas City and a master's degree in data science from New College of Florida in Sarasota, Florida.
