Richard H. Gomer BA, PhD

Gomer’s primary research focuses on tissue size regulation, tissue cell composition, and fibrosing (scarring) diseases. He helped identify a human blood protein that regulates a key step in the formation of scar tissue as well as scar-like legions in fibrosing diseases such as congestive heart failure and pulmonary fibrosis. He can speak to such work, applications, and commonalities, including lung inflammation and related damage caused by COVID-19 as well as potential therapeutics to treat COVID-19.
