Richard C. Daly, MD, is a Professor of Surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, where he is also the institutional Principal Investigator for the INTERMACS database, the Heartmate II DT trial, and the Jarvik 2000 BTT trial. He has previously served in executive committee roles for the organ procurement organization in his region for 10 years, including 4 years as Medical Director and a term as President. He has also served on the UNOS Thoracic Committee.

Dr. Daly received his medical degree from Mayo Medical School and completed residencies in General Surgery and Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He then spent a fellowship year for specialty training in heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support at Harefield Hospital in London, the UK with Professor Magdi Yacoub and Dr. Asghar Khaghani.
