Richard Luther Attanoos MD, MBBS, FRC Path

Dr. Richard Luther Attanoos is a Consultant Pathologist at University Hospital Llandough, Cardiff. He specializes in pulmonary pathology, especially occupational lung disease. He is Chair of the European Working Group in Pulmonary Pathology and Chair of the European Mesothelioma Panel.

Richard is an invited member of the International Mesothelioma Panel and has also served as an invited member of the Asbestosis Guidelines Committee of the College of American Pathologists. Previously he has been European Councillor (2006-2008) Pulmonary Pathology Society and presently sits on the Scientific Organising Committee. Richard has been a Taskforce member of the World Health Organisation review of the Health Effects of Clay and Silicate minerals.

He has published over 100 articles in various peer-reviewed journals, mostly in the field of occupational lung disease. He is an Editor of Advances in Surgical Pathology: Malignant mesothelioma. Dr. Attanoos speaks regularly at a national and international level on various topics related to pulmonary pathology, asbestos-related disease, and mineral analysis.
