Richard Belley graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Laval University in 1992 and then completed a residency program in Family Medicine. In the first 10 years of his practice, Dr Belley has worked as an ER physician. In 1999, he became a staff member of the CISSS CA (Hotel Dieu de Levis sector) Emergency Department, an academic hospital affiliated to Laval University. He was then invited in 2002 to become a staff member in the hyperbaric medicine service and the Complex wound care clinic. DR Belley is presently head of the CISSS CA (Hotel Dieu de Levis sector) Complex wound care clinic. Open on a daily basis and run by 4 physicians and 2 full time clinical nurses, the clinic has more close to 6000 visits annualy. Dr Belley has also contributed to the implementation of the diabetic foot care clinic in the same hospital. Dr Belley has been a clinical professor at the faculty of Medicine of Laval University since 2004 and his current area of interest are wound care education, prevention and treatment of diabetic foot complications, and treatment of complex wounds through a multidisciplinary approach.
He has implemented a multidisciplinary wound care rotation for post graduate residents in the program of Plastic Surgery at Laval University. In the last 2 years, Dr Belley has also been involved in a family medicine practice at the GMF Levis-Les Rivieres. DR Belley also holds various administrative positions, reflecting his interest in management and economics of Health care. His entreprenership side is reflected in his company Application mobile iTech Inc, owned with 2 other partners. The company is specialiazed in distributing convivial web tools for managing treatment of complex wounds. iWoundcare (r) is one of their product available presently on the Apple store for iphone. DR Belley also is webmaster and manage a facebook page on complexe wound care, and also other web site associated with his line of work.
