Dr. Remus Runcan, Habil. PhD is a Romanian social scientist and professor at “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, where he holds the rank of Professor Habilitated in the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Social Work, teaching courses such as diagnosis and solving of social problems, family social work, introduction to sociology, and social work counseling. He began his academic career as a lecturer and progressed through roles as Associate Professor at both Aurel Vlaicu University and the West University of Timișoara before attaining full professorship in 2024.

Dr. Runcan earned his PhD in Sociology from the West University of Timișoara, where his doctoral research focused on virtual communication and its influences on human relationships. Beyond academia, he has held positions in public administration and pastoral leadership, including service as a counselor at the Romanian Chamber of Deputies and as a senior pastor. His interdisciplinary research spans social work, sociology, and education, with publications on topics such as eating disorders in adolescents, alexithymia and mental health, trauma-informed interventions in social work, and the social sustainability effects of parental labor migration, demonstrating his commitment to advancing knowledge in both theoretical and applied dimensions of social sciences.
