Dr. Reezwana Chowdhury, MD, is an accomplished gastroenterologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. As a physician with Johns Hopkins Medicine, she specializes in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as colorectal cancer screening and prevention.
Dr. Chowdhury combines clinical excellence with an active research program focused on inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. Through the Reezwana Chowdhury Lab, she leads clinical research initiatives aimed at improving disease detection, treatment strategies, and long-term patient outcomes in gastrointestinal disorders.
After earning her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Chowdhury completed her Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine and subsequently pursued fellowship training in Gastroenterology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She is board-certified in Gastroenterology and is an active member of leading professional societies, including the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Recognized for her contributions to patient care and academic medicine, Dr. Chowdhury has received honors such as Baltimore Magazine’s Top Doctor designation and continues to advance the field through research, education, and compassionate, evidence-based gastrointestinal care.
