Rebecca Shafee is a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, United States. She grew up in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and moved to the USA to study physics at Caltech. After completing her undergraduate studies, she moved to Boston to pursue a Ph.D. in Astrophysics at Harvard University under the supervision of Prof. Ramesh Narayan and Dr. Jeffrey McClintock. Her postdoctoral research experience spans multiple disciplines including computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, and genetics. She held a Swartz Fellowship in the Center for Brain Science at Harvard during which time she studied the structure and the function of the human brain using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Her current research area is genetics - using large-scale datasets, she is trying to understand the relationship between genetic variants, neuropsychiatric disorders, and complex traits.
