Rebecca Pauly, M.D., joined the School of Medicine faculty this fall as Blue 4 Docent and will work with the Dean’s Office in developing a faculty mentoring program to encompass the School’s clinical departments and affiliated hospitals.

Before coming to UMKC, Pauly served as associate vice president for Health Affairs of Equity and Diversity at the University of Florida Health Science Center where she promoted a climate conducive to faculty accomplishments. Her faculty recruitment and retention initiatives spanned six colleges: Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions and Veterinary Medicine. She served on the faculty beginning in 1997, was a tenured professor of the Department of Medicine, and served as Division Chief of the Division of Internal Medicine from 1999 to 2007.

Pauly graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University and earned her M.D. from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Medicine. She served her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and did a cardiology research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.
