Dr. Rebecca Arundale is currently the Global Product Development Manager at NexSteppe, headquartered in San Francisco, CA. NexSteppe is developing sorghum hybrids as feedstocks tailored for biopower, biogas, biofuels, and other biobased industries. NexSteppe’s global activities span North America, South America, Asia Pacific, and Africa. Rebecca's work bridges technical and business development activities by identifying market needs and developing strategies for new product introduction. Rebecca has full knowledge of product performance across research and commercial plantings and is using this to build an integrated and transparent pipeline of hybrid advancement within NexSteppe’s product lines. Prior to joining NexSteppe, Rebecca was a BP Biofuels agronomist on the Feedstock Technology and Demonstration Team, with a primary focus on energycane and napiergrass for cellulosic ethanol production. Rebecca holds a PhD in Plant Biology and a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where her work centered on the agronomy of Miscanthus x giganteus and Panicum virgatum (switchgrass). Rebecca is dedicated to a future that utilizes crops to mitigate climate change.
