Dr. Pearson is a professor in the MSU Department of Family Medicine and assistant dean for graduate medical education for the College of Human Medicine. He is the senior associate director of the Sparrow/MSU Family Medicine Residency, director of the MSU Sports Medicine Fellowship and team physician for MSU Football. As assistant dean, he serves as the designated institutional official for all MSU-CHM-sponsored residency and fellowship programs in the Lansing Community Campus.
He received his MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1981 and has been a fellow in the MSU Family Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship Program. He is board-certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. Dr. Pearson is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Sports Medicine. He served as a physician for the United States delegation to the 1999 World University Games in Mallorca, Spain, and has served as the medical director of the Michigan Breast Cancer Three-Day for several years.
