Randy Hamlin, Vice President and Ultra Mobile Segment Leader, joined Philips in 1988 as an R&D engineer within ultrasound following two years in a Seattle medical device startup. In 1993, he moved into the marketing function as the Platform Product Manager of the high end ultrasound portfolio. Over the next 10 years he held multiple marketing roles and increased his responsibility to become the Director in Global Product Marketing.
Randy transitioned back to the R&D organization in 2004, taking on platform accountability for product creation, global investigations, and project management. He focused his energy and leadership skills on the creation and success of the iU/iE ultrasound product family.
In 2009, Randy became Vice President of Research and Development for Global Ultrasound. He led the development organization with locations in North America, China, and India who together, innovated to create the full portfolio of ultrasound products for Philips. He was responsible for managing the ultrasound technical and clinical research collaborations globally. In this role, he nurtured feasibility projects with his team that represent disruptive impacts to healthcare. This was the genesis of the Ultra Mobile innovation.
