Randy Allison Taplitz MD

Randy Taplitz, MD, is an infectious disease physician who specializes in infections in compromised individuals, especially those patients with malignant disorders and stem cell transplant recipients. She is the clinical director of Infectious Diseases at UC San Diego Health.
Dr. Taplitz's clinical research interests are primarily related to fungal and viral infections in immunocompromised individuals, and she is involved in a number of clinical trials to evaluate means to decrease infections in this patient population. She also has an active role in clinical research in hospital epidemiology.
Dr. Taplitz completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at UCSF and at Tufts/New England Medical Center. She completed a residency at UCSF School of Medicine, where she also earned her medical degree.
