Dr. Randy Frost is the Chief Medical Examiner for Bexar County, having served in that capacity for the last ten years. He has been with that office for 20 years, previously serving as a Deputy Medical Examiner for Lubbock County (1995-1997). Dr. Frost graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1983, and completed his internship in Internal Medicine and a four-year residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. After tours at sea, in Japan, and at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, Dr. Frost trained in Forensic Pathology at the Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office in Miami, Florida, from 1992-1993.
After this fellowship training and until leaving active duty in 1995, Dr. Frost was the Armed Forces Regional Medical Examiner in San Diego. He continued to serve in the Navy Reserve, with periods of active duty during the response to the 9/11 attacks and during the Iraq War, retiring from the Navy in 2006. He leads a highly respected and accredited medical examiner’s office that supports many South Texas counties in addition to Bexar, as well as maintaining an accredited training program for physicians in forensic pathology.
