Rand Sulaiman, PharmD, BCIDP is an Area Pharmacy Clinical Operations Manager -Ascension Wisconsin. In her role, she collaborates with Ascension national and local pharmacy and non-pharmacy leaders and associates to coordinate, develop, and implement a variety of initiatives to optimize patient care and eliminate clinical practice variation across a large health system.

In her previous roles, Rand served as antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist at Ascension Genesys Hospital and co-chair of Ascension Health – Michigan Market Antimicrobial Stewardship Steering Committee. In this role, she provided antimicrobial stewardship support to Ascension Genesys Hospital and Ascension Hospitals across the Michigan Market. Rand then transitioned to Ascension Rx national team and served as an education manager serving Ascension Michigan Market. In this role, she collaborated with pharmacy and non-pharmacy members to develop and implement a variety of education and training programs to fit the evolving roles of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across a large health system.

Rand’s mission is to optimize patient care through the implementation of best practices and the elimination of practice variation across health systems. She is responsible for successfully developing and implementing evidence-based practices via utilization of clinical support, and resources, and, most importantly, coordinated training and development of pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff. These collaborations and strategies are recognized as vital for the successful alignment of optimal patient care and the elimination of clinical practice variation across a large health system.

Dr. Sulaiman received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She then completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan followed by a PGY-2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at Indiana University Health in Indiana. She is a Board-Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Specialist with advanced Antimicrobial Stewardship training and certification through MAD-ID.

Rand is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and co-chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee of the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP). Rand has contributed to published articles in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, Making A Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID) Newsletter, and MSHP Monitor on her work in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship.
