Rami Sweis is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at UCLH and Senior Clinical Lecturer at UCL. He completed a BSc degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1994), an MBChB from Edinburgh Medical School (1999) and a PhD from King’s College London/St Thomas Hospital (2012). He was appointed as consultant in Gastroenterology/Upper GI Medicine at UCLH in April 2014.
Rami Sweis is the Upper GI Physiology Unit Lead at UCLH, a tertiary centre where problems of reflux and swallowing are investigated and managed using the most advanced technologies, methodology and therapeutics. He is also an Endoscopy Specialist with particular expertise in investigation and management of complex benign and malignant upper GI disorders including achalasia, Barrett’s oesophagus and cancer. Endoscopic treatments which he provides include Dilatation, Stent insertion, Laser, Radiofrequency Ablation, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection/Dissection as well as Per-oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM). Other general conditions that he manages include diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, pain, irritable bowel and functional disorders.
