Dr. Ramana is a senior bariatric surgeon based out of Belle Vue Clinic, Kolkata, India. He is a founder-partner of Bariatrics & Metabolism Initiative (BMI), one of India’s most respected bariatric centers. Dr. Ramana has been at the forefront of advanced laparoscopic surgery for 2 decades, having done hundreds of laparoscopic biliary-enteric anastomoses, Whipple’s, total colectomy, axillary endoscopic neck surgery, retroperitoneoscopic urology and other advanced procedures.
He has several publications, including editorials in surgical journals and chapters in international surgical books. Dr. Ramana is now largely focused on bariatric and metabolic surgery, along with complex abdominal wall reconstructions. He is a leading thought leader in Indian bariatric surgery, and is involved with research in the subject of mini gastric bypass and metabolic surgery.
