Dr. Ramachandra Reddy joined the Mount Sinai Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2007 after having spent the previous 5 years in the dual role of Senior Cardiac Surgeon at the Lenox Hill Hospital and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. His practice includes all aspects of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Reddy earned his MBBS from Madras Medical College and completed residencies in General Surgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Center and in Thoracic Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He also spent time as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and as an affiliate fellow of the American Heart Association at the Allegheny Singer Research Institute. Dr. Reddy also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Cornell University.
Dr. Reddy has clinical expertise in beating heart surgery, including off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) and minimally invasive approaches. He also specializes in the surgical treatment of pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension. His research interests include treatment of anomalous coronary arteries and the reduction of blood usage in cardiac surgery. Dr. Reddy is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
