Ralph Michel Trueb, M.D. is a Professor of Dermatology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and a former Associate Professor at the Department of Dermatology, University Hospital of Zurich (until 2010). He obtained his MD in 1985 from the University of Zurich, his Swiss Board Certifications for Dermatology and Venerology in 1994, and for Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 2000. From 1994 to 1995 he completed training as a Fellow in Immunodermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas & Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Professor Trüeb’s habilitation thesis was “The Tumor Necrosis Families of Receptors and Ligands: Significance and Perspectives for Immunodermatology” (University of Zurich, 1997), and the title of his inaugural lecture at the University of Zurich on November 11, 1997, was “From Hippocratic Baldness to Gene Shampoos: Advances of Trichology at the Turn of the Millenium”. He is the Founding President of the Swiss Trichology Working Group and Past President of the European Hair Research Society (EHRS) from 2008-2011. His research activities include hair and hair disorders: inflammatory phenomena, environmental factors, nutrition, hair and scalp care, patient expectation management, hair aging and anti-aging, and topical minoxidil formulations.

Ralph Michel Trueb's books on hair in Springer Scientific Publications include: “Aging Hair” (2010), “Female Alopecia. Guide to Successful Management” (2013), “Male Alopecia. Guide to Successful Management” (2014), and “The Difficult Hair Loss Patient. Guide to Successful Management of Alopecia and Related Conditions” (2015). Since August 2010 he is in private practice at his Center for Dermatology and Hair Diseases. He offers doctors-in-training and dermatologists respective international traineeships in Dermato-Trichology.
