Rahul Singh Tonk, M.D., M.B.A., is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute focusing on cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and ocular surface diseases. Dr. Tonk earned his Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Cornell University. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration degrees from Rutgers University, which equipped him with the unique skills to lead public health initiatives in his local community as well as the developing world.

Dr. Tonk completed his ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical College, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowship training in Cornea, External Diseases, and Refractive Surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Tonk is proud to train medical students, residents, and fellows in ophthalmic medicine and surgery. He has authored several publications and book chapters, and has presented original research at national and international meetings. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Cornea Society.
