Rafey Faruqui MA, MSc, MS, MBBS

Rafey Faruqui is elected as Chair of the South East England Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych). He will be commencing his 4-year term in June 2021 and will also be joining RCPsych Council. He is keen to use his new appointment in influencing the creation of wider clinical training opportunities for psychiatric trainees and medical students in South East England. He will be leading a working group of Medical Royal Colleges and ABN for the revision of national guidance on Alcohol Related Brain Damage (ARBD).

Rafey Faruqui Joined the KMMS team in 2020 as a Senior Lecturer-Clinical Adviser in Ethics, Law, and Professionalism. He is working as a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at Kent & Medway Partnership Trust, UK and as Honorary Professor in the Centre for Health Services Studies at the University of Kent. He is a past Chair of Neuropsychiatry Faculty at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Co-Editor of the recently published Oxford Textbook of Neuropsychiatry.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of The Royal College of Psychiatrists. He has served as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission, UK, and as a Member of the Mental Health Specialized Clinical Reference Group of NHS England. He organizes the Brain Health Research Group in Kent and is supervising academic projects on the Prevalence of ARBD, Head injury pathways in Kent, and Co-production of symptom self-management strategies for people with traumatic brain injury.
