The Doctor. Rafael Ximenes completed his graduation at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) in 2007. He then moved to São Paulo where he did a residency in Clinical Medicine and Clinical Gastroenterology at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of USP (HCFMUSP) and a PhD in Hepatology at the Faculty of Medicine of USP (FMUSP). During this period, he also took training in Ecoendoscopy at HCFMUSP.
He returned to Goiânia in 2014, where he is a doctor at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. He has an office at the Órion Complex and at the IGM-Instituto Goiano de Medicina, where he performs ultrasound endoscopy and liver procedures (liver biopsy, paracentesis, treatment of esophageal and stomach varies).
After returning to Goiânia, he maintained his participation in research in the area of complications of cirrhosis at the Department of Gastroenterology at HCFMUSP, where he recently completed his post-doctorate. He has also participated in research at Yale University, considered one of the best universities in the United States, and is one of the principal investigators of a European coordination study being carried out in Latin America to investigate complications of cirrhosis (ACLARA study).
