Rafael Cubas, Ph.D., passionate senior scientist at Genentech with more than 15 years of experience in the immunology and immuno-oncology field with extensive expertise in pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology and assessment of antibody-based and small molecule therapeutics. Leading a translational research group supporting a variety of cancer immunotherapy programs ranging from early discovery to early clinical development and evaluating the mechanism of action, validation of target hypothesis, understanding PK/PD relationships, and uncovering biomarkers of response using anti-tumor efficacy, tumor, and immune pharmacodynamic biomarker modulation, in vitro cell line and primary cell-based assays amongst other techniques. Strong knowledge in T cell and myeloid biology and both supporting and leading research and development projects ranging from T cell targets to myeloid/stromal and cytokine approaches. Interested in uncovering novel methodologies that enhance T cell responses and functionality, improve T cell infiltration and modulate suppressive barriers in the tumor microenvironment.
