Rachael Guenter is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Chen Lab. She received her PhD in Cancer Biology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021. She received her B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from North Carolina State University in May 2017. Rachael’s graduate studies have been dedicated to investigating the molecular mechanisms of neuroendocrine cancer and developing novel therapeutic strategies to combat the disease. Rachael has multiple publications in the field of neuroendocrine cancer biology, including strategies to improve the detection of neuroendocrine tumors. Recently, her focus has been on understanding the role of Notch1 signaling in gastroentero pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. She is particularly interested in developing new treatments for patients with unresectable, advanced disease. She also advocates to bring awareness to neuroendocrine cancer and aims to provide accurate information for patients and the general public. In the future, Rachael plans to continue actively studying neuroendocrine cancer by building a platform to facilitate new discoveries, improve detection, and broaden disease awareness.
